New York
Limited Editions Club, 1968

This edition is highly sought after despite its drab two-tone
cloth binding
|
|
This edition contains an
introduction by Henry Steele Commager, and illustrations by John Groth. The Limited
Editions Club: N.Y., published this attractive set in 1968. It consists of two volumes,
quarto, in three-piece bindings of blue and gray cloth, enclosed in a slip case. Its 593
pages were printed letterpress on fine paper, at the Sign of the Stone Book, in
Bloomfield, Connecticut. |

|

Each set is signed and numbered
|
Its attraction to collectors,
hwever, is not its good looks. This edition was limited to 1500 copies. Each numbered copy
was signed by the illustrator, John Groth. This set is one of the most sought-after
editions, after the first, because of its imposing large format and for the illustrations
by the noted artist John Groth.. |

|
The three piece binding and
large size of the two volume set gives it a hansomly imposing look. |
