| The 4-volume
Hebrew first edition was printed in Tel Aviv, in 1947 - the year
before the founding of the State of Israel. It is a very difficult set to
find - especially with the delicate dust jackets. I would go so far as
to say that it is among the rarest of all editions of Gone With The Wind. I
have been told that only 500 copies of the 4-volume first edition were
printed. The second and later editions were printed as 2-volume sets.

The beige cloth binding is decorated with the familiar scene that
is found on the dust jacket of the U.S. First Edition.

And the four volumes make a striking set. If you're curious about
the Hebrew pronunciation of the title ("Hallaf im Haruach"), click
here for a wave file, recorded by my good friend and co-worker,
Avi Stein.

Pictured above is the copyright statement, and below is the text
that appears on the title page.

I've magnified the Hebrew text from the title page in
the two photos below.

Below is a photo of the first page of text, which
reads from right to left.

And here's something fun to go along with the books -
a movie ticket to a showing of Gone With the Wind that dates to
the 1940s!
