Deluxe
Edition, 1965

In 1965 Macmillan published the Deluxe Edition. It is illustrated
throughout by Ben Stahl. It is basically identical to the 25th Anniversary Edition, with
two notable exceptions:
- The Stahl drawing that graces its cover is blue (on the 25th Anniversary Edition the
drawing was done in red).
- The Deluxe Edition was issued with a dust jacket, while the 25th Anniversayr Edition was
in a slipcase.
Today, it is one of the more difficult editions to find.
| Even the front and back covers of the Deluxe Edition contain illustrations by Ben
Stahl. |
Shown below is the Stahl illustration that marks the beginning of part one
of the book.
| The Deluxe Edition was issued with the dust jacket pictured to the right. It is easy
to imagine that many of them were discarded in order to reveal the beautiful pictorial
cover hidden beneath. |
